Vacation – “a period of to relax from work, study, or other activity, for a time to in order to relax, rest, or travel for pleasure.” Robert Orben said, “A vacation is having nothing to do and all day to do it in.” There are many great benefits to taking a vacation such as, resting the body,de-stressing to avoid burnout, giving the brain a break, enjoying new experiences, spending quality time with family, and maybe even make those you work for appreciate you more. There are a hosts of reasons that everyone should take a vacation. However, in the pursuit of taking a vacation from the everyday norm of life, a Christian should never take a vacation from God. When Christians go on vacation that includes Sundays, they should always attend church, including Sunday School, Worship, Sunday Evening, and Wednesday Evening services. In the technological world in which we live today with smartphones, ipads, computers, navigators, and such, there is no reason why a Christian cannot find a Bible believing church to attend while on vacation. They may have to drive a little distance, but that is no great sacrifice. Also, Christians on vacation should not let their walk with God slip but they should faithfully spend the same amount of time with God in personal devotions as they do at home. And Christians should not compromise their standards while on vacation by going places, doing things, and acting in ways that would bring a reproach upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and their church. Vacations are needful, even the Lord Jesus took His disciples away from their work for time off. But remember; don’t take a vacation from God. (Mark 6:31), “And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.”
