Worship – “honor, reverence, respect, adoration, praise, glory, and devotion for a deity.” Worship comes from the Anglo-Saxon word “weorthscipe” which means “ascribing worth to a person or object.” When we worship God, we place worth and value upon God. When we worship God, we are saying, “God, you are worthy of all my love, all my attention, all my devotion, and you are worthy to receive all that I can give.” Adrian Rogers said concerning worship of God, that, “worship is all that I am responding to all that He is in gratitude and praise.” Worship is responding to God with love and gratitude in praise, adoration, thanksgiving, and blessing because of who God is, what God has done for me, and what God is going to do for me in spite of me, that results in my obedience to God and His Word through the Holy Spirit that dwells within my human spirit. (Psalm 95:6), “O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.”
