Yield – “to concede, to quit, to relent, to submit, to succumb, to surrender.” To yield means to commit something to the care and keeping of another and for believers to yield themselves to the Lord, means to commit their entire beings over to the Lord for His care and His keeping. But there is more involved that one just saying they are committing the care of their lives over to the Lord. The yielding of one’s life to the Lord involves giving Him the entire possession and control of one’s whole being and taking their hands off their lives. Yielding to the Lord is the giving up of one’s plans for their own life and allowing God to fulfill His will through their life. And this involves yielding one’s rights to wealth, their rights to be served, their rights to physical comforts, and their rights to make their own decisions in life, just as Jesus did when He left the wealth of heaven, came into this word to serve and not be served, had no earthly comforts, and lived His life in complete obedience to God the Father so that He might redeem sinful man from their sins and saved them. Had Jesus not yielded His personal rights to God and fulfilled God’s plan for His life, every person ever created by God would be burning in hell today. It is only as one yields their life to God that God can use and bless them to be of benefit to others, whether it be to one’ family, church, country, or getting the gospel to the unsaved. (Romans 6:13), “ Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin, but yield yourselves unto God as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.”
